The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released some updates as to who will or will not get healthcare options on the exchange in the fourth quarter. This is important to business owners and HR Departments looking to leverage their benefit packages to attract individuals who are receiving their medical insurance from the Health Insurance Exchanges. Arming yourself with the following information (which is still very fluid) as we run up to individual enrollment can help you plan your recruitment strategies. Forward-thinking agencies, like this BenefitCorp, are able to help clients take advantage of changing public policy.
40 counties, almost all of which are in either Nevada or Ohio, will most likely have zero carriers available on the Exchange. Almost all states, and 1,332 counties, have only 1 carrier available through the ACA. The most striking number is that a full quarter of exchange participants, which is over three million individuals, will be without any health insurance options.
