– John Scalzi
A New York State budget law that goes into effect October 9, 2018, requires all employers within the Empire State to adopt a written policy and conduct annual employee training on sexual harassment in the workplace. This budget law directed the New York Department of Labor to develop a model for standards that must be in organizations’ written policies.
These policy changes are coming very quickly to companies in New York. Affected BenefitCorp clients have already received information on these changes, but if you’re a business owner or and HR professional and you’re not sure what your next step should be to ensure you comply, contact at a BenefitCorp consultant today. Companies must investigate official complainants within 30 days, so don’t delay making sure your policies and procedures are up-to-date.
